The Federal Government's ecoEnergy Program has been reinstated until March 31, 2012. This program provides a government grant of up to $5,000 to homeowners that have completed energy efficient home renovations. The actual amount of the grant depends on a number of factors including the type of work that is completed and the change in energy efficiency of the home.
There are two important changes to the program which will affect your eligibility:
You are still required to have an energy advisor in to evaluate your home twice - both before the renovations take place and after the work is completed - to determine your home's improvement in energy efficiency.

In April, the BC Provincial Government announced an extension and increased incentives to its LiveSmart BC program. Now, homeowners can receive up to $7,000 in government grants, BC rebates and home renovation incentives.
As with the original LiveSmart BC program, homeowners must have a certified energy advisor conduct an energy-efficiency assessment before and after any renovations are done to the home. If you choose to go with Ecowest Renovations, we will take care of all of the paperwork and ensure you get the maximum grant or rebate available to you based on the work you had done to your home.
Of the 54 incentives offered under the LiveSmart BC home renovation incentive program, 35 have now been increased, including:All renovations must be completed by March 31st 2013 to be eligible for these new grants and rebates. Fortis BC has a new promotion running for fireplaces installed between June 1, 2011 and May 31, 2012. Install an EnerChoice fireplace between these dates and you could qualify for a $300 rebate from Fortis BC!
To tell if your fireplace qualifies, please refer to the Fortis BC website which asks that you check the Energuide label on your fireplace to see if it meets their minimum efficiency ratings.
